Marine Weather Course (ASA 119) **Live On-line Class**

Weather is the single biggest factor affecting ALL mariners. Take the mystery out of marine weather forecasts by learning the basic principles of marine weather and the range of available resources. Observe weather and sea state conditions, interpret traditional weather and ocean charts, and use the latest technological tools and apps. Learn to apply the information for local, coastal and offshore voyages, making your time on the water as safe and efficient as possible.

This 4-day course (Feb 10/11 and Feb 17/18, 2024) is a live, online class, so you can learn and interact from the comfort of your own home or boat. Limited to 25 students to maximize active participation.   The course is taught by ASA Master Instructor Capt Lisa Batchelor Frailey – Marine Meteorologist, Oceanographer and Ocean Passagemaker.

The course combines lecture, video, hands-on exercises, and an offshore passage planning practical.  Course fee of $495 includes textbook, workbook and study materials:

  • ASA 119 Certification is included upon successful completion.
  • Note: ASA Instructors can attain ASA 219 certification with this course and the companion IQC.
